The information on this website is a culmination of information we have gathered from doctors, surgeons, speech pathologists, audiologists, medical professionals and other parents.
Microtia is a condition characterised by an incomplete or underdeveloped ear. It literally comes from the words “micro” (small) and “otia” (ear).
In Australia, microtia & atresia are relatively rare conditions. Parents can therefore find it hard to get information and can also feel alone. Although there are worldwide sources of information on microtia & atresia, they can be difficult to find and it can also be a very time consuming exercise.
We therefore felt there was a need to put some information and resources together in one place.
